ABOUT US

The Friends of Melrose Elementary Arts and Sciences Council is a nonprofit organization that exists for charitable, educational, and enrichment purposes, including the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Mission & Vision

Friends of MES recognizes that STEAM occupations are growing at a rapid rate. STEAM degree holders have a higher income even in non-STEAM careers. STEAM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables students to become the next generation of innovators. It is clear that most jobs of the future will require a basic understanding of math and science. During STEAM education activities, students learn the value of failure as part of the learning process. This allows students to develop a growth mindset which builds confidence and resilience. We understand the importance of this mindshift in education and are committed to supporting and  promoting this change in direction at Melrose Elementary School.

MEETINGS

General meetings are usually held bi-annually, once at the beginning of the school year in the fall and once in the spring in the Melrose Elementary School Library.

Sign up for our newsletter (we promise not to SPAM you) for meeting dates and other updates straight to your inbox.
